recognition engine and copies it to your clipboard, ready to paste. Works
fully offline — nothing leaves your Mac.

Press ⌃ ⌥ R from any app.
How it works
Grab an image
Copy an image to your clipboard (screenshot, photo, anything with text
in it), or let Dax snip a region of your screen.
Press the shortcut
Press ⌃ ⌥ R. Dax reads the text in the
image instantly — no waiting for a server.
Paste the text
The recognized text lands on your clipboard. Paste it wherever you need it.
Two ways to grab. By default, Image to Text reads whatever image is on
your clipboard. In Settings → Tools → Image to Text, switch the source
to Live Selection to draw a box on screen instead — handy for pulling
text from a window without screenshotting first.
What it can read
Anything Apple’s Vision framework can recognize: screenshots, photos of
documents, handwriting, code in a terminal, text in a design mockup, receipts,
signs — most things with legible text.
Privacy
Entirely local. The text recognition runs on your Mac’s neural engine; the
image never leaves the machine.
