Image Ask lets you ask a question about anything on your screen. Draw a box around it and get an answer in place, with follow-ups.
Image Ask tool

Open it

Press I from any app.

How it works

1

Capture a region

Press I and drag a selection over any part of the screen.
2

Ask about it

A panel opens. Ask a question about the captured area. The answer appears in place.
3

Ask follow-ups

Keep typing to ask follow-ups about the same capture. The conversation continues, fully keyboard-driven.
Screenshot a stack trace or a full error dialog and ask “what’s causing this?”, without retyping the message.

Panel shortcuts

  • C: copy the latest answer.
  • N: start over with a new capture.

Dax Shots

Every capture is saved to ~/Pictures/Dax Shots/Image Ask, named the way macOS names screenshots, so you can always find the image you asked about.

Privacy

Captures are sent only to answer your question and are not stored on our servers.
