# Image to URL

> Drop an image, get a hosted link — instantly.

**Image to URL** (internally, *Uplink*) uploads an image and hands you back a
hosted link, copied straight to your clipboard. It's the fastest way to share a
screenshot in a chat, a prompt, or a pull request without saving files or
opening an uploader.

## Open it

Press <kbd>⌃</kbd> <kbd>⌥</kbd> <kbd>U</kbd> from any app, or choose **Image to
URL** from the Dax menu.

## Use it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add an image">
    Drag an image into the window, paste one from your clipboard, or pick a file.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let Dax upload">
    Dax uploads the image and generates a hosted URL.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste the link">
    The link is on your clipboard — paste it wherever you need it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Grab a region with <kbd>⇧</kbd> <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>4</kbd> first — the capture
  lands on your clipboard, and Image to URL turns it into a link in one paste.
</Tip>

## Great for

* Sharing a screenshot with a teammate in Slack or a PR
* Feeding an image URL to an AI tool that takes links instead of uploads
* Dropping a visual reference into a prompt
